Abcam most cited antibody supplier for IHC in 2023

Cambridge, UK — March 25, 2024 — Abcam, a global life science company working together with researchers to advance science and enable faster breakthroughs, today announces it has been named ‘Supplier Succeeding in IHC’, and was highly commended in a further three categories in CiteAb’s prestigious annual industry awards.

CiteAb’s ‘Supplier Succeeding in IHC’ award recognizes the supplier with the most antibody citations for immunohistochemistry (IHC) work in the past year. IHC is a technique that uses antibodies to detect the location of proteins and other antigens in tissue sections, which is then visualized using either chromogenic or fluorescent detection. It’s commonly used as a method to diagnose diseases like cancer, as well as to predict prognosis and treatment response. Selecting an antibody that is specific and proven to work in IHC is critical for research success and diagnostic accuracy.

Abcam also received ‘highly commended’ in the categories ‘ELISA Kit Supplier of the Year’, ‘Growth Factor Supplier to Watch in 2024’ and ‘Digital Science Tool of the Year Award’. The latter commendation acknowledges Abcam’s biophysical quality control (QC), which uses an analysis toolkit to confirm antibody identity at a molecular level and give researchers the highest level of confidence in their research.

Dr Alejandra Solache, SVP R&D at abcam and recipient of the 2021 CiteAb award for “Significant Individual Impact” commented: “The CiteAb Awards recognize the essential role that reagents play in accelerating scientific progress. We are honored to have been recognized by these industry awards for the tenth consecutive year now, and are incredibly proud to see our antibodies so trusted by customers for their work in immunohistochemistry.”

Dr Andrew Chalmers, CEO and founder of CiteAb, commented: “Many congratulations to the team at Abcam for their success in the CiteAb Awards this year – with achievements ranging from the production of innovative digital tools to the popularity of their antibodies for use in IHC. Being recognised in multiple categories goes to demonstrate the whole team’s commitment to helping scientists in their work in many areas of the life sciences.

CiteAb’s annual awards were launched in 2014 to celebrate the work and impact of companies and individuals in the global research reagent sector. The awards look to recognize life sciences providers making a significant impact to the industry in terms of antibody data, validation testing and reproducibility.
